Questions and answers about counseling

What brings people to counseling?
Lots of reasons. A sense that something’s not right. The suggestion of a friend or employer. Concerns about a loved one. A referral from the family doctor. The desire to stop feeling sad, depressed, worried or angry. And the desire to explore issues with an objective listener who has no other agenda than to help do what’s right for you.

What’s your approach to counseling?
My treatment philosophy is holistically oriented toward the health of the whole person. I believe it’s important to integrate the physical, mental and spiritual unity of the people I counsel. As always, I remain committed to helping clients meet their goals by providing clinical excellence in a caring, supportive and respectful setting.

How do I know if counseling will help?
My initial assessment session will begin to identify any problems that need to be addressed. I’ll know then how I can help you.

How many sessions will I need?
It’s different for every client, so I won’t really know until after your initial assessment. Really though, the answer is partially up to you, and how committed you are to getting better.

Will my visits be confidential?
Absolutely. I'm very protective of your privacy and won’t release information without your written permission.

When do I pay for services?
Payment or co-payment is due at the time of service. Most services are covered by insurance plans and as a courtesy to you, I’ll file your insurance claim.

What’s the first step?
You’ve already taken it. Next, we invite you to call us at 336.542.3349 for an initial appointment.
